The protein skimmer, which combines a biological, mechanical, and chemical filter, makes it much simpler to control the water level on this new model because it has a ball valve.
The apparatus has a flowmeter and a 4 mm air connector for the air supply.
A separate air pump is required to continuously pump 0.5 litres per metre (30 litres per hour) of air into the filter. This pressure makes sure that the foam is pushed through the exit tube and out of the filter.
Operation
The way the skimmer operates is that things dissolved in the water are drawn to the surface of an air bubble. The concentration of chemicals, dirt, colours, and algae is caused by the attraction of air bubbles.
A extremely long contact period between the water and the air is produced by mixing the air with the water using an air pump and driving the mixture through the filter material (biorings) to a lower exit.
As a result, a dense foam is produced and the water's surface tension is continuously altered. The cleaned water is separated from the foam when this foam is pushed through a perforated cone.
The foam filters and removes substances dissolved in water, including phosphates, ammonia, humic acids, colours, proteins, and a variety of heavy metals.
