For today's high flow system, it has a 6" body and 2-3" returns.
For ponds up to 30,000 gallons, the Bio UV Professional includes a single bulb with a 9000-hour lifespan.
Every device has an IPS4 rating.
kills 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and spores from algae.
How the professional UVC Bio-UV 30 device operates
The high bactericidal, virucidal, and algicidal characteristics of ultraviolet lamps with a wavelength of 254 nanometers, or 2537 Angstrom, have long been known.
By violently upsetting cell metabolisms and causing their demise, type C UV radiation effectively kills bacteria.
These lights should not be confused with ozone-producing lamps because they use a different wavelength.
Micro watts/second/cm2 units are used to measure ultraviolet radiation.
The most important factors for effective disinfection are the exposure time (i.e., the relationship between the size of the pond and the flow rate through the filter) and the energy emitted in micro watts/second/cm2 at the lamp's farthest point.
A combination of the energy released by the lamp and the exposure duration is used to calculate performance in milijoules (mj).
The UV-C lamps in the Bio UV line operate at levels higher than those necessary to kill the major microorganisms that can be found in koi ponds.
Additionally, efficiency is improved by 20 to 30% as a result of the reflection that the stainless steel (316L) in the chamber produces.
Theoretically, microorganisms must be exposed for at least one second.
However, according to BIO-UV equipment specifications, for the best disinfection, the exposure period should be doubled to 2 seconds, depending on the flow rates.
It is crucial to have a high filtering quality so that big particles don't screen the UV-C radiation in order to prevent interference with its function.
